206 Palestinian Factories Awarded Quality and Supervision Certificates
Palestine Standards Institution said Yesterday, Tuesday, “The total companies and factories that were awarded Palestinian quality and Supervision certificates, in addition to 'Halal’ certificate were 206 establishments, with the potential for increasing due to the efforts of the institution in reviewing all screening programs, adopting them, and checking quality systems in the factories.”
Palestine Economy Portal | Director General of the standards institution Haidar Hejja clarified, “Despite the harassments and measures of the Israeli Occupation that shackle the Palestinian economy, and limits enabling Palestinian companies and factories of development, still, they have made great strides in raising their competitiveness, increasing their share in the Palestinian market, and reaching global markets.”
The basic requirements for the quality of the products provided to the consumer depend on the national or international standard specifications of these products, which contribute in meeting the wishes and requirements of the consumer and his satisfaction, which is the ultimate goal of the quality systems.
Palestine Standards Institution adopted (3511) Palestinian specification that cover the different industrial sectors, which allow regulators surveillance on the products and services traded in the Palestinian market, in order to ensure their commitment to the specifications, and enable the Palestinian manufacturers to sell their products in international markets.
The Ministry of National Economy licensed last July (26) new factories, with an investment value of $28.1 million, concentrated in the governorates of Jericho and the Rift Areas, Hebron, Nablus, Jenin, Salfite, Bethlehem, and Qalqilya, distributed on several manufacturing sectors, mostly under light industry, and classified as micro, small, and medium-sized factories.
According to the monthly report of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the record for industrial production amounts scored an increase by 6.3% during June 2015 as it rose to 115.15, compared to May 2015, which recorded 108.33 (Base year 2011= 100).
