Translated by Sabrin Qadah
The Palestinian Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction (PCDAR) announced the final design of the Khalid Al-Hassan Center for the Treatment of Cancer Patients and was approved by the Board of Trustees of the Center.
D. Mohammad Shtayyeh, Chairman of (PECDAR), said that the construction of the center constitutes a qualitative leap in the level of Palestinian medical services provided to cancer patients in Palestine and provides about 80% of the cancer treatment bill abroad.
D. Shtayyeh signed an agreement with the Islamic Development Bank to fund the first phase of Khalid Al Hassan Center for Cancer and Cereal Transplantation, worth 2 million $.
The engineering idea was chosen by a consortium of the Jordanian company Dar Al Omran with John COOPER of Britain and the Palestinian Center for Engineering and Planning at a cost of approximately $ 2.5 million after a high level competition in which 4 coalitions took place between regional, local and international companies specialized in designing cancer hospitals.
The center will be built on a 20-dunam plot of land in the Surda area near Ramallah. The building will comprise 15 floors with a total area of 300,000 cubic meters.
Khalid Al Hassan Center provides 200 beds in the first phase, which will save $ 150,000 a year, the cost of external transfers for cancer treatment.
The center includes all sections related to examination, diagnosis, treatment and bone marrow transplantation.
