Mohammad Shtayyeh: a New Developmental Plan is Needed to Focus on the Gaza Strip
Translated by Sabrin Qadah
Ramallah - the member of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement D. Mohammad Shtayyeh: there is a need to complete a new national developmental plan focusing on the integration of the Gaza Strip with the rest of the Palestinian territories, including directing foreign and domestic investment to the sector and encouraging joint investment between businessmen from the West Bank and Gaza and Jerusalem through tax facilities for joint ventures.
Shtayyeh said during a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador Takeshi Okobo in his office in Ramallah today that the success of the real reconciliation is the new realities that will be created in Gaza, starting with solving the humanitarian crises and the worsening life of the sector and reviving the reconstruction process.
He said that the new developmental plan should be based on creating balanced development opportunities between the various Palestinian areas while preserving the privacy enjoyed by each region in order to allow integration between the various regions of Palestine.
It was also necessary to focus on human development and the response to its needs, especially focusing on those who were poorer. He added that an international campaign should be launched to activate the safe passage between the West Bank and Gaza in order to unify the economic activity and the movement of people and goods and establish the necessary infrastructure to unite geography, economy, institutions, markets and others.
Shtayyeh also called on Japan to intensify its efforts to support the Palestinian reconciliation and provide assistance in the implementation of its requirements.
