Translated by Sabrin Qadah
Two weeks ago, the State of Qatar transferred $ 3 million to fund emergency projects and emergency services for health, services and education institutions in the occupied city of Jerusalem, a senior official in the Fatah movement said.
He explained that his office oversaw the distribution of this aid, which was registered with the names of institutions owed, noting that about 60 institutions benefited from this assistance, as the bulk was allocated to the health sectors and university education.
He pointed out that four hospitals in Jerusalem, Al Maqasid, Al Muttala’, San John for Eye Hospital and the Red Crescent, benefited from this assistance to cover the near-free medical services provided to Jerusalemites who lost their Israeli health insurance, as well as the purchase of medical equipment for hospitals.
He added that a large part of this aid was allocated to support students at Al Quds University and its branch in Abu Dis, Dar Al-Tifil, Beit Hanina, Al-Quds Open University in Sawwanah, Al Ibrahimyya College, Islamic Ummah college and the industrial Lutheran, in addition to funding the establishment of a lab for electrical engineering in al Ummah College.
He pointed out that the aid also included dozens of Islamic and Christian institutions in the city such as institutions of sports, cultural and youth clubs, women's associations, Bedouin gatherings, homes for the orphans and the elderly and associations of blind and people with special needs.
The Qatar Support Committee for Al Quds was established in Doha in 2006 by an Amiri (governmental) Decree and is chaired by Qatar's Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman the second.
