Shtayyeh: Design Completion of the Largest Drug Addicts Treatment Center

RAMALLAH- Head of the Palestinian Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction "PECDAR" D. Mohammed Shtayyeh, said: the design and consultation works for the drug addicts’ treatment center in Jaba’- Jerusalem are almost ready, noting that they will be carried out by the engineering consultancy office 'Sigma Arabesque’.

 

He said that PECDAR is in the midst of processing the tender of implementing the largest drug treatment center in Palestine, in favor of Huda Society for the treatment of drug addicts, funded by the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah with about 400 thousand dollars.

Shtayyeh said that the first center of its kind will be an area of ​​1,200 square meters spread over four floors, including galleries for sport, food, library, clinics and others. It will accommodate about 70 patients, knowing that it will include a section for the treatment of women.


For his part, General Manager of Huda Association for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts in Jerusalem, Ahmed Hijazi, said: The importance of the project lies in the need to provide assistance to young people out of the drug tunnel to normal life. He explained that his association, with the qualified staff, is capable of dealing with addicts and their families.

He said that the need to move to a new center has appeared, after the headoffice of the center was in al-Nabi Younis being a tourist attraction. He pointed to the achievements of the Assembly in the fight against drugs and the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts, and praised the efforts of all supporters of the Assembly.
