Palestine the Second in Environment Friendly Technologies Prize for 2016
Translated by Sabrin Qadah
Engineer Mohamed Hisham Yahya won the prize equally between the state of Palestine and the Arab Republic of Egypt for his research report titled "wind vertical turbine manufactured of solid waste," which is a technical, productive, engineering, environment-friendly and electric power producer project. The project can be applied in Arab countries by intensified efforts from competencies, funding from governments and providing capital.
The head of the Environmental Quality Authority Adala al-Ateerah, congratulated Yahiya the researcher from the city of Ramallah on his award, noting that the EQA encourage such eco-friendly projects and initiatives that contribute to the achievement of sustainable development concepts.
Alateerah praised the Palestinian youth efforts in the pursuit of scientific and technological innovations in the world, noting that Yahya winning the Award is a Palestinian achievement added to the achievements of the State of Palestine in the Arab and international arenas record.
Al-Alateerah noted that Palestinian environmentally friendly models come in the context of the efforts of the State of Palestine in the international engagement in the promotion of environmental concepts and green economy and the embodiment of the strategic quality of the environment in the work of the Palestinian Authority towards environmental protection.
The main idea of the project lies in the recycling and exploitation of several types of solid hard-degradable waste with serious pollution, and introducing it with several other materials to accurately produce geometric dimension plates to eventually be the turbines that generate electricity through the exploitation of natural wind power to combine the two advantages; reducing pollution from solid waste and generating electric power. This in turn results in the achievement of major interests in the short and long term.
Researcher Mohammad Yahya "24 years" comes from the city of Jenin, who is a mechatronics engineer in the field of energy and planning and business management. He also works in the field of research and development for industrial and applied products to improve production, and works as a research and development engineer in the field of security in the Preventive Security Service. Mohammad Yahya conducted a promising number of research in special projects related to renewable energy, recycling cardboard, feasibility studies and environmental studies.
Yahya studied Bachelor at Birzeit University in Mechatronics Engineering and graduated in 2014, and holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Indiana University in the United States, and is the Ambassador of Birzeit University Schools of Palestine to guide high school students in his specialization that is most demanded in the market, and has several training courses in the field of all cement factory facilities, and in the field of automotive electronics and sensors and precision control systems and in the field of building design in terms of information.
The environmentally friendly technologies and green technologies are a means of achieving energy sustainability by supporting renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and wave energy, hydropower and biomass, which aim in general to bring about sustainable development by minimizing the negative environmental impact on natural resources, as well to reduce the consumption of natural resources and reduce waste through the use of non-hazardous materials in the manufacturing process that may effect the product, where residues can be restored or biodegraded and can be simply defined as effective technology that preserves the environment.
