PECDAR and “ Burj al-Laklak” Stork Tower Inaugurate an Awareness Project for Children of Jerusalem

Palestinian Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction "PECDAR" signed an agreement of 100 thousand dollars for the implementation of a project for the education and development of children of Jerusalem entitled "an entrepreneur makdisi child” in favor of Burj al-Laklak association by the Islamic Development Bank funding in Jeddah.

The agreement is considered one of 15 separate agreements for projects and programs targeting Jerusalem, funded by the Islamic Development Bank totaling $ 5.5 million, to support a variety of sectors, including education, restoration of buildings, and empowerment of women, youth and sports, as well as cultural and social sector.

The President of “PECDAR" D. Mohammed Shtayyeh stressed on the importance of such projects that target the city of Jerusalem, pointing out that these agreements come as part of a strategic plan to enhance the steadfastness of the citizens of Jerusalem in facing the challenges imposed by the occupation.

The "an entrepreneur makdisi child” program, which was immediately implemented after the signing of the program, about 150 children from the schools of Jerusalem, aged (12-16 years old).

The program will work through a variety of activities and field trips to promote the spirit of volunteerism, societal initiatives, and to solidify the Palestinian identity in the minds of children and educate them to understand the reality of the city of Jerusalem and the challenges that it faces by the attempts of Judaization and others.

Association Director Muntasir Edkidk, shows that the project is a Palestinian thrilling heart in the schools of Jerusalem that it works for change on two levels: first improve the educational atmosphere through training children inside schools to be entrepreneurs that are able to make a positive change in society. The second level is working to improve the facilities of these schools through initiatives carried out by the students themselves.

Burj al-Laklak Association is a civil makdisi institution, founded in 1991, on the second largest area after the al-Aqsa mosque in the Old City to protect the land from settlement construction. It aims to support the society of Jerusalem and strengthens its presence and identity through various activities and events.
