Study Confirms the Environmental Threat of Israeli “Jeshori” Factories
Translated by Sabrin Qadah
The first applied study of the environmental impact near Jeshori factories built within the 1967 territories in Tulkarm demonstrated that these factories are dangerous to humans and environmentally polluting.
The study prepared by the Environment Quality Authority mentioned that most of those who dwell in the vicinity of these factories suffer from diseases and health problems which increased the triple from the other areas of Tulkarm, while workers suffer from major life threatening and health problems. A clear contamination of land, soil and water was also proved to exist.
The head of the Authority of Environment Quality , Adadala al-Ateera, noted that this was the first work and study on the impact of Jeshori factories conducted by a Palestinian crew funded by the Belgian Cooperation, despite the fact that the funding was not enough.
She demanded to close Jeshori factories, pursuit occupation and to not accept the idea of putting filters, as these factories are built on lands within the 1967 borders, stressing on the importance of compatibility with the United Nations Environment Program and the Arab League for the international experts to adopt the results of Palestinian universities studies which we draw them all the greetings and appreciation for their distinctive efforts in this aspect.
