UN report –prepared by the secretariat of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development- held Israel responsible for the deterioration of the Palestinian economy and bringing it to the brink of collapse.
UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, said on Monday, October 3, that the detailed report will be presented at the General Assembly of the United Nations in November. The report included "the shift of the Palestinian economy from a booming economy of an average income country, to a distorted economic structure on the brink of economic and humanitarian collapse, where the Palestinian people are deprived of access to land, water and natural resources, while the property and assets either confiscated or destroyed.
The report refers to the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2007, the expansion of Israeli settlements, the construction of the separation wall, the imposition of closure policy in the West Bank and the isolation of East Jerusalem from the rest of the Palestinian territories.
According to the data of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistic (government), the unemployment rates in the Palestinian market of 2015 have recorded new levels above 30 percent in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
