216,000 Students Enrolled at Higher Education Institutions during 2015

Data published by the Palestinian Ministry of Education (MoE) revealed that the number of students enrolled and registered at higher education institutions during the 2014/2015 academic year reached around 216,000 students ( 130,843 females and 85,185 males).
According to the Higher Education Statistical Yearbook, 132,348 students are registered at traditional universities, of whom 120,994 are registered at a Bachelor’s Degree program, 45 at a PhD program, 6,896 at a Master’s Degree program, and 242 at a High Diploma program.
57,695 students are registered at open education universities, while around 26,000 are registered at community and university colleges.
Moreover, data showed that the number of newly enrolled students at higher education institutions during the 2014/2015 academic year was 56,969 students.
The number of graduates from higher education institutions during the 2013/2014 academic year reached 43,544 graduates.
The Statistical Yearbook also indicated that there are 15,843 employees at higher education institutions, of whom 6,412 are teaching academics, 697 are administrative academics, 627 are research academics, 2,563 are admin staff, 1,193 are office staff, 501 are teaching and research assistants, 1,361 are vocational specialists, 574 are technicians, and 1,915 are unskilled workers.
There are 52 accredited higher education institutions in Palestine, of which 14 are traditional universities, 19 are university colleges, 18 are community colleges, and 1 is an open university.
