PCBS: Increase in Palestinian Imports and Exports in May 2016
According to a press release issued by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), both exports and imports increased during May 2016 in comparison with the previous month.
Exports increased by 4.4% during May in comparison with April 2016, reaching USD 83.5 Million, but decreased by 1.8% in comparison with May 2015.
Exports to Israel increased by 3.5% in comparison with April 2016 and represented 87.9% of total exports during May 2016.
At the same time, exports to other countries increased by 11.2% during the same period in comparison with April 2016.
Moreover, imports increased by 21.5% during May 2016 in comparison with April 2016, reaching USD 492.1 Million, and also increased by 19.7 in comparison with May 2015.
Imports from Israel increased by 12.7% during May in comparison with April 2016 and represented 50.6% of total imports during May 2016.
At the same time, imports from other countries increased by 31.9% in comparison with April 2016
Finally, the trade balance, which represents the difference between exports and imports, increased by 25.7% during May in comparison with April 2016. It also increased by 25.3% in comparison with May 2015 and reached USD 408.6 Million.
