Increase in Construction Cost Index during June 2016
According to a press release issued by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the Construction Cost Index for Residential Buildings reached 103.12 in the West Bank, increasing by 0.51% during June 2016 in comparison with May 2016 (base year 2013=100).
The Construction Cost Index for Residential buildings increased due to the increase in labor wages by 2.79%, while the prices of raw materials decreased by 0.58%, and rental of equipment decreased by 0.25% during June 2016 in comparison with the previous month.
The Construction Cost Index for Non-residential buildings reached 103.28 in the West Bank, increasing by 0.51% during June in comparison with May 2016 (base year 2013=100).
The Construction Cost Index for Non-residential buildings increased due to the increase in labor wages by 2.79%, while the prices of raw materials decreased by 0.48%, and rental of equipment decreased by 0.28% during June 2016 in comparison with the previous month.
The Construction Cost Index for Skeleton buildings reached 101.16 in the West Bank, decreasing by 0.68% during June in comparison with May 2016 (base year 2013=100).
The Construction Cost Index for Skeleton buildings decreased due to the decrease in the prices of raw materials by 1.97%, and rental of equipment by 0.27%, while labor wages increased by 2.17% during June 2016 in comparison with the previous month.
Additionally, the overall Road Cost Index (RCI) reached 108.05 in the West Bank, slightly increasing by 0.08% during June in comparison with May 2016 (base month December 2008=100).
The overall Road Cost Index increased due to the increase in operating costs of equipment and maintenance by 2.56%, and labor wages by 1.64%. Also, rental of equipment slightly increased by 0.02%, while the prices of raw materials decreased by 0.23% during June 2016 in comparison with the previous month.
Moreover, the overall Water Networks Cost Index (WNCI) reached 111.31 in the West Bank, decreasing by 0.52% during June in comparison with May 2016 (base month January 2010=100).
As for the Water Reservoirs Cost Index, it reached 104.91 with a decrease of 2.06%, while Water Networks Cost Index reached 114.23 with an increase of 0.14% during June 2016 in comparison with the previous month.
Finally, the overall Sewage Networks Cost Index (SNCI) reached 107.09 in the West Bank, decreasing by 0.50% during June in comparison with May 2016 (base month January 2010=100).
