Agreement to Import Wheat to Palestine from Russia

\

Translated by Tamara Barakat

The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Russian Federation, Abdel Hafiz Nofal, announced that an agreement was signed to import 70,000 tons of wheat to Palestine from the Russian Federation. This agreement is the first of its kind between Palestine and Russia, creating a new chapter in the economic and trade relations between them.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Abdel Hafiz Nofal, Ambassador of State of Palestine, Ivan Dubov, Assistant to the Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Muntaser Badarneh, and Olga Dolena.

Ambassador Nofal also said that starting from today, Palestine, as one of the countries with the least developed economies, can benefit from the Eurasian Economic Union (includes Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Armenia) agreement. This agreement allows Palestine to enjoy customs duty exemption in the five member states of the Union.

This will contribute to increasing trade exchange between Russia and Palestine and will allow Palestinian products to enter the Russian market.

Moreover, Ambassador Nofal affirmed that the aforementioned exemptions will allow agricultural products, drugs, as well as other goods produced in Palestine to enter the markets of the member states of the Union, thus accelerating the pace of trade exchange between them and Palestine.
