According to a press release issued by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), the Construction Cost Index (CCI), Road Cost Index (RCI), Water Networks Cost Index (WNCI) and Sewage Networks Cost Index (SNCI) in the West Bank increased in May 2016, in comparison with April 2016.

Increase in the Construction Cost Index for Residential Buildings

The Construction Cost Index for Residential buildings reached 102.60 with an increase by 0.96% in the West Bank during May in comparison with April 2016 (base year 2013=100).

The Construction Cost Index for Residential buildings increased due to the increase in the prices of raw materials by 1.54% and rental of equipment by 0.61%. At the same time, labor wages remained stable during May 2016 in comparison with the previous month.

Increase in the Construction Cost Index for Non-residential Buildings

The Construction Cost Index for Non-residential buildings reached 102.75 with an increase by 0.96% in the West Bank during May in comparison with April 2016 (base year 2013=100).

The Construction Cost Index for Non-residential buildings increased due to the increase in the prices of raw materials by 1.48%, and rental of equipment by 0.60%. At the same time, labor wages remained stable during May 2016 in comparison with the previous month.

Increase in the Construction Cost Index for Skeleton Buildings

The Construction Cost Index for Skeleton buildings reached 101.86 with an increase by 2.06% in the West Bank during May in comparison with April 2016 (base year 2013=100).

The Construction Cost Index for Skeleton buildings increased due to the increase in the prices of raw materials by 3.11%, and rental of equipment by 0.42%. At the same time, labor wages remained stable during May 2016 compared with the previous month.

Increase in the Road Cost Index (RCI)

The overall Road Cost Index (RCI) reached 107.97 with an increase by 0.68% in the West Bank during May in comparison with April 2016 (base month December 2008=100).

The overall Road Cost Index increased due to the increase in the prices of raw materials by 1.20%, and operating costs of equipment and maintenance by 0.90%, while rental of equipment decreased by 0.27%. At the same time, labor wages remained stable during May 2016 in comparison with the previous month.

Increase in the Water Networks Cost Index (WNCI)

The overall Water Networks Cost Index (WNCI) reached 111.89 with an increase by 1.18% in the West Bank during May in comparison with April 2016 (base month January 2010=100).

Water Reservoirs Cost Index reached 107.11 with an increase by 3.04%, and Water Networks Cost Index reached 114.07 with an increase by 0.40% during May 2016 in comparison with the previous month.

Increase in the Sewage Networks Cost Index

The overall Sewage Networks Cost Index (SNCI) reached 107.62 with an increase by 0.61% in the West Bank during May in comparison with April 2016 (base month January 2010=100).
