Translated by Tamara Barakat
UNRWA spokesperson Adnan Abu Hasna said that the Agency needs $474 million to complete the reconstruction of the partially and fully destroyed houses of Palestinian refugees in Gaza due to the last Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
UNRWA had requested $724 million during the Cairo Conference on the Reconstruction of the Gaza Strip in order to be able to complete the reconstruction and maintenance of the refugees’ destroyed houses, Abu Hasna Added. So far, it only received $250 million.
He continued, “We still need an additional $474 million to complete the reconstruction, and we hope that the donor countries will fulfill their commitments in order for us to carry on with our work.”
Last month, UNRWA announced that it completed the reconstruction of only 41 of the refugees’ fully destroyed houses during the last Israeli aggression on the Strip. It mentioned that during the next few days, the reconstruction of 600 fully destroyed houses will also be completed.
