A 5 Million Euro Grant to Support Communities in Area “C”
Translated by Tamara Barakat
The signed agreement aims to support the rural development project that aims to spur economic development in six communities in the Jordan Valley area and Area “C.” The funded projects target the agricultural sector, economic empowerment, and infrastructure.
Minister Bishara explained in a press release that the agreement was signed in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government and the French Development Agency, and will be implemented over a period of 4 years. The importance of this agreement lies in its focus on the development of marginalized areas, which lies at the core of the Palestinian Government’s sustainable development plan.
The French Consul General, Hervé Magro said, “Area “C” is of great importance to us as we believe that a viable Palestinian State cannot exist without Area “C”, which is under Israeli control.”
Magro also added that France will continue to provide basic services, and humanitarian and psychological support to marginalized communities, as well as support to infrastructure projects.
