Translated by Tamara Barakat
The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Mofeed Al-Hasayneh announced that a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry and UNDP will be signed to compensate the owners of partially destroyed housing units, with an overall amount of 33 million dollars. This grant will benefit around 20 thousand families and will also be used to build three schools.
In a press release, Al-Hasayneh said that money will be disbursed on the impacted families in the next few days according to the evaluation of the joint committee of the Ministry and the UNDP.
According to estimates, the last Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip during the summer of 2014 destroyed around 60 thousand housing units, rendering around 20 thousand of them uninhabitable, and causing little to intermediate damage to 40 thousand of them.
