The Palestine Standards Institution (PSI) revealed on Monday that the number of Palestinian technical standards approved by it is 3684 standards, disbursed on most of the production industries.

The Institution explained that the number of issued binding technical regulations was 61 within different fields, with the aim of protecting the consumer and providing technical references for regulators.

It also mentioned that most of the issued technical regulations were for the food industry. These regulations set rules and conditions that producers and importers must comply with. Competent parties determined by the law are responsible for supervising the implementation of these regulations. It is prohibited to import or market any product that violates the binding technical regulations, and whoever does so will be subject to a list of penalties.

The Institution also said that 255 companies and factories have obtained the quality mark and are halal certified.
