Palestine records highest daily Covid-19 infections with 1,946 cases

Palestine today recorded 1,946 new Covid-19 cases and 17 fatalities, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.
Al-Kaileh announced that 1,946 Palestinians tested positive for the novel coronavirus and 17 others died of it in the occupied territories.
The new cases were distributed to 1,261 cases in the West Bank and 685 in the Gaza Strip. Among the 1,261 new cases in the West Bank, 166 cases were recorded in Hebron governorate, 224 in Nablus, 89 in Bethlehem, 80 in Qalqilia, 146 in Ramallah, 158 in Jenin, 23 in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, 70 in Salfit, 98 in Tulkarm, 34 in Tubas, 38 in Jerusalem suburbs, besides to 135 in Jerusalem city.
Al-Kaileh identified the 17 fatalities as three fatalities, aged 66, 66 and 76 from Bethlehem governorate, three others, aged 63, 65 and 66, from Jerusalem suburbs, a 76-year-old woman from Jenin, a 76-year-old man from Jericho, six others from Jerusalem city besides to three others from the Gaza Strip.
She added that 555 Covid-19 patients recovered from the pandemic and noted that 54 patients are in intensive care, including nine on respirators.
According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 87,838.
Out of the 87,838 cases, 58,865 are recorded in the West Bank, 16,142 in the Gaza Strip and 12,831 in East Jerusalem.
Recoveries have totaled 72,168 and the death toll reached 740, leaving a total of 14,930 active cases.
The Minister put the recoveries at 82.2 percent of the total since the pandemic outbreak in Palestine in March, as 17 percent remain active and 0.8 percent have died.
