The Palestinian Cause: Absent from the normalization agreements!
Palestine Economy Portal
Late last night, the texts of the alliance agreements and the normalization of relations between Israel and the UAE and Bahrain were published, which were signed by the Prime Minister of the Israeli occupation government, Benjamin Netanyahu, the UAE Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Zayed, and the Bahraini Foreign Minister, Abdul Latif Al Zayani, under the auspices of the American President Donald Trump at the White House yesterday, Tuesday.
However, the main cause of the region, the Palestinian cause, was absent from these agreements, except in a passing sentence that does not include any commitment, and any mention of the Israeli annexation plan was completely absent from the agreement between Israel and the UAE. The texts of the agreements seemed to be outside the reality of the region and the reality of the conflict. As for Israel, even after they are signed, these agreements are still not valid until the government and the Knesset ratify them.
The four signed the "Declaration of the Abraham Agreements", stating: "We acknowledge the importance of preserving and promoting peace in the Middle East and around the world, through a common awareness, and showing respect for human dignity, freedom and freedom of worship. We encourage efforts to advance dialogue between religions and cultures in favor of advancing the A culture of peace between the three Abrahamic religions and among all of humanity. "
The Israeli-UAE agreement
The agreement between Israel and the UAE did not address the Palestinian cause clearly, but in a passing word it spoke about "aspiration to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict." The agreement did not mention the Israeli annexation plan.
The agreement mainly spoke of opening embassies. The annex to the agreement talked about basic principles in areas of cooperation, such as investments, civil aviation, water, agriculture, and others.
The agreement dealt with cooperation in the issue of coexistence, culture and various programs, as well as improving the regional situation and advancing a "strategic agenda for the Middle East," and spoke about the importance of security and a commitment to cooperation in order to advance stability.
The Israeli - Bahraini agreement
This agreement indicated that the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Netanyahu “agreed to start an era of friendship and cooperation, and to seek a stable, secure and prosperous Middle East for the benefit of all countries and peoples of the region ... and the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Israel are confident that this progress will lead to A future in which all peoples and religions will be able to live together cooperatively and benefit from a prosperous peace, in which nations focus on common interests and build a better future. "
On the Palestinian cause, the agreement stated that "the two sides discussed their common commitment to advance security and peace in the Middle East, by stressing the importance of adopting the vision of the Abraham Accords: expanding the circle of peace, recognizing the right of any state to sovereignty and to live in peace and security, and continuing efforts to reach Towards a comprehensive, fair and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "
The agreement added, "During their meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Abdel Latif Al-Zayani agreed to establish diplomatic relations, to push for continued security and to refrain from threats and the use of force. The two sides also agreed to promote coexistence and a culture of peace."
Likewise, "the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Israel have agreed to seek, in the coming weeks, an agreement on investments, tourism, direct flights, security, communications, technology, energy, health, culture and environment, and other fields, and to reach an agreement for the mutual opening of embassies."
