 The European Union announced the provision of a financial contribution of 9 million euros to pay salaries and pensions for the month of July for more than 37,500 civil servants in the West Bank, in the health and education sectors.

"In light of the difficult financial situation of the Palestinian Authority resulting from the Corona virus crisis and recent political developments, this support will enable the Palestinian Authority to pay the salaries of Palestinian civil servants," the union said in a statement on Wednesday.

He added that in the context of the approach of the European team, the Union provided the disbursement of its financial contributions to support the Palestinian Authority, to ensure the continuation of basic public services without interruption.

The representative of the European Union, Seven Kun von Burgsdorf, said that this contribution comes "in light of the Palestinian Authority's suffering in providing salaries and pensions, and in maintaining the provision of public services to its citizens."

Burgsdorf stressed that if a solution is not found, it is likely that the entire system will collapse, stressing that instability or chaos is not in the interest of either side, as we need a real breakthrough in order to restore hope and rebuild confidence.
