Amazon retracts its discriminatory and unfair policies in providing international free shipping to the Palestinians given their acknowledgement that they are part of Israel in exchange for obtaining the free service.

The decline comes in the wake of the Palestinian government's notification to the company through a letter addressed to it on February 26. Signed by the national economy and finance ministers, Shukri Bishara, in which the company calls for an immediate retreat from its discriminatory policies, which supports settlement activity and violates international law by providing free shipping service through Amazon’s website.

Minister Al-Essaily welcomed the company's retreat from its discriminatory policy and compliance with the rules of international law in providing service to citizens without discrimination. He stressed that the company's policy will be pursued during the coming period, and its commitment not to engage in any activity that encourages Israel to continue to violate international law. This also applies to all companies that provide electronic services, as they will be subject to scrutiny in line with international law.

Al-Essaily expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by the Ministerial Committee (the national economy, justice, communications and information technology) and all partners, including postal workers ’unions in Palestine, and global labor unions. Especially unions of postal workers in most of the world, the Universal Postal Union and other institutions and advocates, for their efforts to pressure the company to end its discriminatory policies.

The Palestinian minister indicated that there is a legal move towards companies operating in the settlements, whose names were published by the United Nations last February, and if they do not close their headquarters, they will be prosecuted before the international courts.

It is worth noting that last November, Amazon started providing free shipping service to Israeli settlements for orders in excess of $ 49 on its website, in exchange for which Palestinians are required to receive the same service that Israel include an address for them.
