Shtayyeh: Under the direction of the President, a ministerial delegation to Cairo to open economic prospects

Palestinian PM Mohamed Shtayyeh said that under the guidance of President Mahmoud Abbas, a ministerial delegation will travel to the Egyptian capital Cairo to open economic prospects and enhance cooperation.

In his speech at the start of the cabinet meeting in the city of Ramallah on Monday, Shtayyeh said that the government will be ready to implement the decision of President Mahmoud Abbas, once a decree is held to hold the general elections, especially in the most severe circumstances where we need our national unity, to face this dangerous stage in our Palestinian case, pointing out that there are those who want our cause to go backwards, to the stage before Oslo, and we want to preserve our national achievements.

He stressed that President Abbas will ask the head of the Central Election Commission Hanna Nasser to go to the Gaza Strip, to begin the process of consultation on the election process, and completion.

On the funds deducted by Israel, Shtayyeh stressed that Israel continues to deduct our funds, especially those of martyrs and prisoners.

He praised the steadfastness of our heroic employees, military, private sector and civil society, for their patience and understanding, pointing out that the Ministry of Finance tomorrow will issue a statement on the salaries of employees due by the end of this month.

On the other hand, Shtayyeh thanked the Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Algeria and Qatar for their support to us, praising the support provided by the Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem Funds during its 76th annual meeting held on Sunday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for $ 50 million to implement development projects in Palestine.

He said: "We returned today from meetings in New York, under the chairmanship of the President, and there were several meetings, the most important meeting of donor countries, and this meeting, which the United States did not attend for the first time since 1994, which tried to cancel this international platform, and replaced with a new platform, but The international community stood with the Swedish presidency of this podium, and the meeting was successful at all levels."

Regarding UNRWA, there was a meeting where "all parts stressed the extension of UNRWA's mandate on the one hand, the provision of necessary funding on the other, and even the right of return to the Palestinians. Urgently to inject new money into it” According to Shtayyeh.
