The Palestinian preparatory committee supervising the olive harvest campaign stressed the need to provide all forms of support to farmers during the olive harvest season.
The committee, formed of the Agriculture, Media, and Education Ministries, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission and a Network of NGO’s, stressed that this year's campaign is of particular importance in light of the difficult circumstances experienced by farmers in the areas of conflict with the settlements built on Palestinian lands and what farmers face of abuse and theft of olive fruits.
The Committee also pointed out the importance of supporting farmers through voluntary work and the possibility of covering part of their needs, especially that this year's olive season is golden high for some areas, especially in the northern governorates.
The committee confirmed preparing a central event in each governorate, and a major event will be attended by Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh, in addition to popular and institutional events, and discussed the importance of integrating youth and student councils in universities and school students through coordination with the ministries of education and higher education.
The campaign will be accompanied by logistical, mobilization and voluntary support, by civil institutions and local communities, and will work on permanent coordination with the media institutions to publish all the activities of the campaign and mobilizing public support.
It is expected to attract private institutions to provide support for farmers’ needs during the expected season.
