Ramallah - Palestine Economy Portal.
Minister of Women's Affairs Amal Hamad discussed on Tuesday with Maha Abu Samra, Director of the Program on Democratic Governance and Social Development Unit, UNDP-PAPP and the accompanying delegation from the Consultative Development Solutions Company, the mechanisms of cooperation in the project for women's economic empowerment and local development.
Hamad stressed, according to a ministry statement, that women's empowerment is an empowerment of society, in light of the difficult economic reality of the Palestinian people in general, and Palestinian women in particular, where women suffer from poverty, unemployment and marginalization, stressing the importance of complementarity in working with all partners, not to repeat the same Efforts with the same beneficiary groups, thus not wasting money, time and effort.
Empowerment should be based on women's priorities, linking mechanisms with human rights, legal and social empowerment, working with women and men to raise awareness and change perceptions, so as to lead to real and comprehensive empowerment, which brings about the social change required for local development.
Abu Samra explained the project, which was implemented in six African countries and is currently being implemented in Palestine. And explained that the current phase includes a comprehensive survey of all projects and programs that contribute to the economic empowerment of women, implemented by the Consultative Development Solutions Company.
