The Palestinian PM Mohammed Shtayyeh said that the unemployment figures in the West Bank and Gaza are important to read politically. They are not the product of wrong economic policies, but are the product of the occupation measures and their control over the areas of the Palestinian economy. "We are trying to break this link with all we can."
He continued: "The statistical figure for us is part of the national sovereignty, and our strategy to strengthen the steadfastness of citizens on the one hand, and the disengagement from the occupation and connect with the Arab nations on the other hand."
"We hope to cover the Palestinian demographic statistics, and the Palestinian citizen should feel that he is covered by the statistical figure in his country." The number of Palestinians is 6.8 million, compared to 6.6 million Jews. The world must read this well to work on the two- Israel today is a racist state in terms of reality and legislation, and the truth is reflected in our statistics, and their statistics are trying to distort the truth. "
This came during the 22nd meeting of the Advisory Council for Official Statistics, Thursday, at the headquarters of the Central Bureau of Statistics in Ramallah.
For his part, Shtayyeh stressed that the government began steps to break away from the occupation by serious steps. Medical transfers to Israel stopped completely except for supplementary cases.
"We have had a visit to Jordan, and next week we will be in Iraq, and try as much as possible to expand our ties with our Arab depth, trade and services. In everything, we try to import oil from Iraq and repeat it in one of the Arab countries."
He stressed that the government is ready to contribute to the implementation of the second agricultural census 2020 and provide all means of logistical support and material to make it a success.
In this context, the Advisory Council discussed several statistical issues, most notably the upcoming agricultural census, the results of the study of the gap between the outputs of education and the labor market, as well as the development of work on indicators of sustainable development goals.
