India to impose additional tariffs on 28 U.S. products starting today

The Indian government stated it will impose additional retaliatory tariffs on 28 U.S. products including almonds, apples and walnuts, taking effect from today.
According to Reuters, India was preparing to impose higher tariffs ahead following Washington’s withdrawal of key trade privileges for New Delhi.
After New Delhi’s initial decision last June to levy tariffs on U.S. products up to 120% was postponed many times in 2018 due to negotiations between the countries as the trade between them reached $142 billion.
