The US is asking visa applicants for their social media names
After Hanan Ashrawi and many other Arab and Muslim applicants were denied visa to enter the US, with no clear explanations to why social media names are needed for the visa applications, about 15 million visa applicants will be affected by Trumps’ administration new policy.
It is worth mentioning that more than 65,000 people per year were affected when the Obama administration required some visitors to voluntarily provide their social media names in their visa application.
According to Washington post, the decision will “backlash” as Officials will now ask every person entering the US for their social media names and information. And people would reduce their social media activity thus will affect the Officials’ purpose for collecting these accounts.
After Trumps’ famous statements against Mexicans and Muslims, a decision of Asking millions of people for their personal information will risk keeping the United States open to people of all countries, cultures and political persuasions.
