The industrial production index scored an increase of approximately 0.28% in April 2019 compared to March 2019; with an increase of 104.58 in April 2019 compared to 104.30 in March 2019 (base year 2018=100).

Based on the PCBS article, which was posted on Sunday, mining and quarrying activities recorded an increase of 33.79%; it had a 2.68% share of the industry.

The activities of water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation increased by 0.39%; with it forming 2.39% of the share of the industry.

The activities of Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning Supply decreased by 4.22%; with it forming 11.95% of the share of the industry.

The activities of the manufacturing industry decreased by 0.16% in April 2019 compared to the previous month, with it forming 82.98% of the share of the industry.

Regarding the sub-activities, which have a significant relative effect on the overall index, some of the manufacturing industry decreased in April 2019 compared to Mach 2019. The main manufacturing’s included: manufacture of metal products (other than machinery and equipment), manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and their preparations, furniture industry, chemical industry and chemical products, textile industry, paper and paper products industry.

From another aspect, the IPI recorded an increase in some manufacturing activities including manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products, manufacture of tobacco products, and manufacture of food products, clothing industry, printing activity and reproduction of registered media, wood industry and wood products.
