PCBS: 13 million Palestinians around the World

The President of PCBS, Ola Awad, revealed the conditions of Palestinians by the end of 2018 on the eve of 2019.
Today, there are more than 13 million Palestinians around the world. The number of Palestinians reached approximately 13.05 million Palestinians; 4.91 million in the State of Palestine, approximately 1.57 million in the 1948 territory, approximately 5.85 million in Arab countries and around 717 thousand Palestinians are in foreign countries.
More than one-third of the population resides in Gaza Strip
The State of Palestine has approximately 4.915 million individuals; around 2.954 million reside in the West Bank, and 1.961 million reside in the Gaza Strip. The percentage of refugees reached about 42% of the overall Palestinian population residing in the State of Palestine; with 26% being in the West Bank and 66% in Gaza Strip. There was a decline in the fertility rates during the past years, with the total fertility rate reaching 4.1 newborn between 2011-2013 (in comparison to 5.9 newborns back in 1999); 3.7 in the West Bank and 4.5 in Gaza Strip.
Decrease in the average household size
The average family size decreased to 5.1 individuals in 2017 (compared to 6.1 in 2000); with 4.8 individuals in the West Bank and 5.6 individuals in Gaza Strip.
Decrease in crude birth and death rates
Crude birth in 2018 in Palestine has reached 30.5 newborn for every 1000 of the population; 28 newborn in West Bank and 34.4 in Gaza Strip. On the other hand, the death rate for every 1000 citizen has reached 3.8 deaths; 4.0 in West Bank and 3.5 in the Gaza Strip.
High Fertility Rates among Palestinians in Jordan compared to Palestinians in Syria and Lebanon
The total fertility rate of the Palestinian woman residing in Jordan reached 3.3 newborn in 2010, in comparison to 2.5 newborns in Syria in 2010 and 2.8 newborns in Lebanon in 2011.
The Palestinian society in the 1948 lands reached approximately 1.568 million Palestinians; with individuals under 18 being 40% male and 39% female by the end of 2018. At the same time, the percentage of the individuals (who are 65 years or older) was 4% male and 5% female.
Population Growth Rate for Palestinians is higher than the Jews in Historical Palestine
The population growth rate of Palestinians in Palestine reached about 2.5% in 2018, while it reached 2.3% for the Palestinians living in 1948 territory in 2017 with the Jews having a growth rate of 1.7% in Historical Palestine in 2017.
