Osama Herzallah announced his resignation on Wednesday from his position as General Director at SSC. His resignation came as a step to show his opposition on the Board of Directors’ approval to appoint the Chairman of the Retirement Authority, Majid Al-Helou, as a member in the SSC Executive Administration.

Herzallah described in his resignation the illegality of the decision of the Council of Ministers as per clauses of the Social Security Law that does not authorize anyone other than the board of directors of SSC to take decisions regarding appointments within the SSC.

He continued: “the current situation of the corporation does not allow me to continue working”

Herzallah assured that it is important for the Board of Directors of SSC to adopt the governance to avoid intervention with the authority of SSC, warning that the continuance of this current situation only means that the problems will aggravate and affect the corporations’ continuity.
