Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics: the increase in the Industrial Production Index in Palestine during the month of September

The report of the PCBS showed that the industrial production index recorded an increase of 7.68% during September of 2018 in comparison to August 2018, as the index number of the industrial production quantities increased to 109.96 during the month of September in 2018 in comparison to 102.12 during the month August 2018 (Base Month December 2015 = 100).

The activity of the industrial production on the scale of the main economic activities

The activities of Mining and Quarrying scored an increase by 15.42% which had a share of 4.06% that forms an important portion of the total industrial activities.

The manufacturing activities also scored a percentage of 8.15% during the month of September in comparison to the month of August which reflects a high portion of 83.19% of the total industrial activities.

While the activities of Water Supply, Sewerage, Waste Management and Treatment scored a decrease of 4.88% which portion is 0.78% of the total industrial activities.

The activities of Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning scored a decrease of 1.75% which forms a portion of 11.98% from the total industrial activities.

With regard to sub-activities that have a huge positive effect on the total index number some of the manufacturing activities recorded an increase during the month of September 2018 in comparison to the month of August 2018. The most important ones were the manufacture of metal products in addition to machinery and equipment, manufacturing of food products, manufacturing of tobacco products, manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products, manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products, beverage industry, chemical industry and chemical products.

On the other hand, the index number for the industrial production recorded a decrease in some of the manufacturing activities including furniture, clothes, paper industry and paper products, printing and copying registered media, rubber and plastic products manufacturing.
